Thank you all for your prayers for Carissa and our new baby Ashira. They are both is doing well now, after 6 days in NICU. Her pediatrician appointment on Wednesday was encouraging. Bilirubin level is finally low enough that we are discontinuing light therapy! Pray it continues to improve.
The orthopedic doctor said Ashira's left hip is under-developed and "dislocatable." She will need to wear the Pavlik harness 23 hours a day for at least 2 months, and we'll see over time with repeat ultrasounds if that will be sufficient. Because of several factors, it's less likely she'll need more intervention, but still possible. Pray the harness is effective and her hip develops properly.
