Chuck and Jeanne Ballard

Founder & Executive Director of African Pastoral Training (APT) Ministries

As the Executive Director of APT Ministries, Chuck wears many hats. He oversees the administrative responsibilities of the ministry while promoting the ministry here in the US.. He also conducts 1/2 day “Thompson Bible Workshops” in the US for those who want to learn how to study the Scriptures using a Thompson Bible.  He has previously been the primary instructor of the Thompson Bible workshops held annually throughout Africa but this role is changing as more “National Training Teams” are being developed in the countries that APT Ministries is involved in.  The need and opportunity is such in Africa that Chuck is working more to raise the profile and awareness of APT Ministries here in the US.

Chuck’s vision for APT Ministries grew out of trips to Chad in 2005 and 2008. To date,  APT Ministries has trained over 11,000 pastors and church leaders in Africa to prepare Bible-based and Spirit-inspired sermons using the Thompson Chain-Reference Study Bible.

Prior to founding APT Ministries, Chuck served as senior pastor at Aldersgate Church in Greenville, Texas from 1999 to 2008. He also served in pastoral ministry positions in churches in Texas and Arizona beginning in 1978.

Born and raised in Austin, Texas, Chuck received his BA from Stephen F. Austin State University (1976) and his Th.M. from Dallas Theological Seminary (1982).

He and his wife, Jeanne, have two grown children: Joseph and Bethany and two grand children.  His wife Jeanne is an adjunct professor at Dallas Theological Seminary and the Associate Director of the Doctor of Ministry Program there.
